Carly Fiorina’s off shoring record at HP . . . a reaction by Bonnie Vent

Carly Fiorina off-shored jobs at HP and that is what all the tech companies are doing.  Do I think she cares about the people she put out on the street; no I do not.  It is always about stock price.  One company I worked for actually re-named the company after 3 mergers in 2 years based upon a ticker symbol they liked.  People need to take charge of their own employment.  It takes creativity but it can be done.

I used to have a career in software development.  I saw job after job off-shored to Indiato the point that the Indian contractor bought the business and moved it to India.  With the tech bubble bursting in 2003 I saw many of my co-workers leave California to go somewhere cheaper to live.  I was hit twice because my specialty was manufacturing applications (ERP).  We don’t manufacture much in the US anymore, so there are no software customers in the US either.

These days’ people need to start their own internet business.  Whether it is a safety net in case the main job goes away or for someone who is already in that situation that needs to make a living.  I have a new book out.  It is an informational book on how to publish on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, etc without a publisher or the upfront costs of self-publishing.  I am including all the info to set up a home based business as an author.  It is “green” as the books are digital unless the customer wants a paperback version.  If so, the book is printed on demand and in the good ol’ USA.

The title is: Publish your book FAST with Maximum Profits on: Amazon, Barnes & Noble and more: 10 Secrets Publisher’s Don’t Want You to Know

There is a recent article in Daily Finance regarding the tremendous growth in India.  A very large portion of what used to be middle class jobs in the US have left the country never to return again.  This process was very good for the corporate bottom line and of course these larger corporations are global.  As long as they make money they do not care what country is the biggest customer.  So my feeling is that no one in government really cares about creating jobs in the US.  This is not a recent story for many of us.  NAFTA started under Bill Clinton.

People need to take control back for themselves.  Determine your strengths and take them to the marketplace yourself.  There are many very smart and talented people out of work.  This does not mean that the expertise is not needed.  In fact corporations are struggling with many of their employees burning out.  Make your own opportunity!
